The Gravity Project

Directors:  Perhaps YOU

Screenwriter:  YOU

Genre:  Science Fiction/Thriller/Action/Comedy/?

The Gravity Project is En Queue Film's multinational low budget sci-fi feature film project.

It was created in 2012 and released to the public, on the EQF blog page November 5 2012 by Brian Taylor.

The Gravity Project is a proposed ninety minute feature film project, to be produced by En Queue Film along with five to nine other producers around the world who are yet to be named.

If you are interested in helping the Gravity Project off the ground, you've come to the right place!

THE PREMISE:

On day one, there is a sudden and drastic change to the Earth's gravity. Everyone and everything is pressed down to such a degree that people can barely move.
On day two, still stuck, people do their best to deal with the varied situations they find themselves in.
On day three, gravity returns to normal and most people will get up, come outside and blink in the fresh air, then slowly, everyone will begin floating off into the sky, as now gravity has lessened drastically.
The End.

THE PROJECT:
As The Gravity Project is about citizens around the world dealing with an amazing experience, and a "No Budget" production, En Queue Film wants to work with other Indie film companies around the world and have them produce their own stories.
Five to Nine of these stories will then be sent to En Queue and edited together into a feature film for independent distribution.
Suggestions for locations are: Canada, Italy, Australia, India, Japan, Russia, Egypt, but any location can be part of the film. A variety of locations and cultures would be preferred.

THE FILM:
The film will set up each of the characters, in their situations, all over the world.
Then, "the event" will happen,  the "event" will not ever be explained, (but you can theorize.)
Each of the 5 to 9 stories will be revisited so that we can see how everyone is dealing with their own gravity problems.
The 5 to 9 stories will put their characters in various types of peril that will have to be overcome, (or not.)
These tales of peril will be revisited as the film proceeds.
Then the gravity will return to normal and those who can will react.
Then gravity will reverse and everyone will float around or off into the sky.
The end.

THE RULES of THE GRAVITY:
As the people are pressed down by gravity, it has to come on suddenly and strongly. In a matter of a few seconds.
The pressure is very strong, Planes would fall out of the sky. Tree branches would droop. Waves and tides would change. Everything would be "heavier."
You can have your characters move, but their abilities would have to be related to their strength.
A little baby would be completely imobile, but a strong and fit man could move slowly.
For example, a thirty year old woman in her babies' nursury might just be able to lift her arm, but there is no way she can stand to pick up her crying baby, in the crib.

THE RULES of THE FILMS:
Each of the films must be 10 to 20 minutes in length.
They must focus on only one scene.
They can have as many characters in that one scene as they like.
They can tell any story in their 10 to 20 minutes, provided the story abides by all the other rules.

STORY SUGGESTIONS:
These are just ideas I've come up with, you are free to use them or create your own.
-Mother can't tend to crying baby, she and baby are reunited then get stuck on the ceiling in zero G.
-Father and son are fishing on a sandy riverbed. They get pressed into the mud, have to eat worms.
-Crowded Toyko nightclub. Bodies intertwined on dance floor, booze wearing off. 48 hours of the same song. Great joy is achieved with someone manages to unplug the music.
-A bank robbery.

As I stated, any story will do, provided it follows the rules.

TECHNICAL STUFF:
Please create and/or render your films in 24p. at a minimum of 720 by 480, 16:9 (1.21) if at all possible.
Please render it as raw as possible and allow myself to "standardize" all the footage.

That's it.
